Eventful week!

This has been one helluva week!

Completed the trim tab (currently wedged in blocks for a week to allow the proseal to completely set) and the left elevator.

While waiting for the proseal, I fitted the elevators to the Horiz Stab and they matched perfectly! Still have to drill out the hole in the elevator horn that [...]

Vertical stabilizer

Found all the parts to the VS…I had completed all preliminary work last year, so I riveted the stiffeners tio the skins, match-drilled and dimpled skins to skeleton, and final-riveted the entire piece together, up to the rear spar, whichj I left clecoed. I need to decide which wires to run, and until I do [...]

Horizontal stabilizer completed!

Today, Ben and I finished the rear spar and elevator bracket! The picture I took was overexposed, [...]

Nearly done with HStab

Reassembled the left half of the horizontal stabilizer Friday night in preparation for riveting.

Riveted the nose ribs myself with only the usual issue for nose ribs: how to get a bucking bar in there. I used the yoke from my squeezer which suited the purpose as well as anything. Then I partly assembeled the main [...]

Backtracking complete

Both replacements have been drilled, deburred, scotchbrited, dimpled, primed and are awaiting installation.

Vertical Stabilizer, part 2

Disassembled, deburred, dimpled and countersunk vertical stabilizer. All that remains is dimple-tabling the interior skin holes, priming and riveting…my guess is about three hours remain.
